EMBRACE ELEGANCE AT A NEW ORLEANS BALLET: WHERE TO FIND THE CITY’S FINEST DANCE PRODUCTIONS THIS SPRING

Spend an evening appreciating professional ballet in a city that puts culture, uniqueness, and tradition above all else. New Orleans takes pride in highlighting the arts; ballet is no exception. Visitors and locals can enjoy professional ballet in some of the city’s most iconic performing arts theaters this spring.

The History of New Orleans Ballet

Shortly after the arrival of opera in the late 18th century, New Orleans theaters began introducing ballet performances. Unlike opera, ballet didn’t have language barriers. As a result, the art began to appeal to the masses bringing forth decades of prestigious performances in theaters throughout the city.

Ballet enthusiasts can now enjoy performances from several professional ballet companies with residencies in New Orleans’s most historic buildings.

Marigny Opera Ballet

Now in its tenth full season, the Marigny Opera Ballet has served the New Orleans area since 2014. Since the company’s residency began at Marigny Opera House, it has won several Gambit awards for outstanding choreography and dance presentation.

The company showcases contemporary art and hires renowned choreographers, composers, musicians, and designers to bring its visions to life. This April, the company will highlight three of the best short performances from its repertoire in a production called “Panorama.”

Attendees are sure to enjoy elegant movement complemented by classic sounds. The show will take place at the historic Marigny Opera House at 7 p.m. on the following dates:

● Friday, April 21, 2023
